The Morocco Heritage Tour of the North is a 7-day tour that takes you to the most historically and culturally significant cities in Morocco’s northern region. You’ll visit the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, the imperial city of Meknes, the spiritual capital of Fez, and the blue city of Chefchaouen. You’ll also explore the Rif Mountains, go on a camel trek in the desert, and learn about the Berber culture.

Tour Plan

DAY 1 to Morocco ! Arrival to Tangier either by Ferry ( Port ) or plane ( Airport ) .Meet & Greet and transfer to your hotel in Tangier . Tangier which was once an international area ,and home for reputed writers and artists.Dinner & Accommodation

DAY 2 Breakfast .Then ,Tangier tour .You will see Cap Spartel with the beautiful view of the point where the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea meet .Discover Hercules’ Caves ,where legend mingles with history .The caves are a series of underground passages where a number of prehistoric relics have been discovered.Walk through Medina and souks Lunch in the Medina.Afternoon at leisure .Dinner & Accommodation

 

DAY 3 Breakfast ,we drive to the White Dove of Tetouan.On the way, you head we

st along the coast and the hilly road towards Ceuta (Sebta to the locals). There a

re good views to the sea and it’s possible to climb up Jebel Musa, opposite the rock of Gibraltar (Jebel Tarik). In Tetouan ,known as the white Dove due to the coulor of its buildings,you will

discover a town which still exhibits a profoundly Spanish influence ,as it was a territory of Spain until asserting independence in 1956.Visit the outside of the Royal Palace with its Arab-Islamic architecture and its magnificently decorated gate .Stroll in the ancient Medina (Old Town),its narrow alleys and paths , popular shops ,colorful souks ( Markets) ,where lady peasants in their Rifan traditional dress ,are exposing their goods on the ground for sale :Vegetables ,Goat cheese , and spices .After lunch in the Medina ,Continue your journey along the coast, passing the small fishing port of Cabo Negro and then heading into the mountains to Chefchaouen ( Chaouen ). This town, founded in 1471, was very isolated until the early 20th century. High up in the Rif mountains, Chefchaouen ( Chaouen ) is painted in lovely shades of blue, legacy of the Moorish & Jewish population that fled from Spain ( Andalusia ) after the Fall of the Arab Rule in Granada.Dinner & Accommodation

 

DAY 4 a walking tour of the Blue City , a haven of peace and tranquility of the Moorish who enriched the Moroccan culture with the beautiful Andalusian architecture ,and lifestyle .Stroll in the colourful souks ,and narrow streets of the city adm,iring the simplicity of life of its inhabitants .Visit the famous Kasbah of Chaouen ,built in the late 15th Century to defend the

city against the Christian /Spanish attacks .The Kasbah contains also the ethnological Museum exposing a variety of local and popular products of handicrafts.Free time in the OTTA HAMMAM Square ,with its cafes, souks. Afternoon at leisure . Accommodation.

DAY 5 our journey will take us to Fez ,through the Rif mountains . The Rif mountains are still relatively unexplored by visitors, partly because they are quite remote.Arrival to Fez . Lunch .Afternoon at leisure .Dinner & Accommodation

DAY 6 old and large Medieval city , Fes is a bustling hive of activity and truly fascinating. Spend the day exploring this spirirtual Capital of Morocco,Its Coranic School ,the Mausoleum of the city’s founder Moulay Driss its colourful souks.Lunch in Medina .To conclude ,you will drive to Borj Nord to enjoy the spectacular panoramic view on the city . Dinner & Accommodation .

DAY 7 out of the city of Fez this morning, visit the ancient Roman city of Volubilis in the foothills of the Middle Atlas mountains. Incredible mosiacs, gates, villas and the forum still remain – the city is so large that it hasn’t all been excavated yet. In the afternoon, see the holy town of Moulay Idriss, named after the founder of Fes Moulay Driss 1 ,lunch .Then,depart to the imperial City of Meknes.Dinner & Accommodation

DAY 8 Breakfast , visit of Meknes : Bab Mansour Gate ,the Mausoleum of the founder of the city Moulay Ismail .Then drive to Tangier across the Rif mountains .Lunch on the way .Arrival to Tangier . Spend your last evening at leisure, time for some last minute souvenir shopping or a nice meal in one of the many tasty restaurants.Dinner & Accommodation.

DAY 9 ,Departure transfer to the airport or ferry port.
